2010 Colorado Tort Law Update

On Wednesday, October 20th, Mr. Kyle Bachus and Mr. Darin Schanker, founding partners of Bachus & Schanker presented at the 2010 Tort Law Update put on by the Colorado Bar Association. Both litigators and non-litigators attended the annual program to gain insight for the faculty of expert tort law attorneys.

Mr. Kyle Bachus presented on both Insurance Bad Faith and Subrogation Law in Colorado.

The Colorado General Assembly passed significant new legislation this year affecting subrogation rights in Colorado, especially in the healthcare context.

Mr. Darin Schanker spoke on Wrongful Death cases. Both, Mr. Bachus and Mr. Schanker highlighted new case law, new legislation, and other developments that impact the practice area.

Both partners are leaders in Colorado in Auto Litigation, Premises Liability cases, and Wrongful Death cases. Mr. Bachus was re-elected for his eight term on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA). He is also the Co-Chair of the Auto-Litigation Committee for CTLA, a position he has held since 2005.

Mr. Schanker is the past president of CTLA. In 2003, Darin Schanker was named the Outstanding Trial Attorney for the State of Colorado by the CTLA. Both partners have been recognized as AV-rated attorneys – the highest rating assigned to individual attorneys by the Martindale Hubbell publication. Martindale Hubbell Ratings are assigned according to peer review and attest to a lawyer’s legal ability and professional ethics.
