Joy of Giving Event Increases Donations to JAMLAC
The November 30, 2012, Joy of Giving Dessert Reception to benefit the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Clinic (JAMLAC) was a resounding success again this year. Nearly 100 men and women from the business community joined employees of Bachus & Schanker at their offices to partake in holiday festivities. The event raised $9,400, which is nearly a third more than was raised at last year’s event. The funds will allow JAMLAC to provide free legal services to approximately 16 clients.
JAMLAC was founded in 2006 as a confidential legal resource for those struggling with poverty who are in need of legal representation. It is a service of the nonprofit Mile High Ministries. JAMLAC relies on the services of volunteer attorneys, law school students, paralegals and other volunteers from the community. Representation is available in civil and minor criminal matters including bankruptcy, family law, and other such matters.
