The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently released data showing that drunk driving traffic accidents decreased by 2.5 percent in 2011. While this is definitely good news, it still remains that 9,878 men, women, and children died as a result of what is clearly a 100 percent avoidable situation: drunk driving.
Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) fights against the problem of drunk driving and works to provide services to help the families of victims of drunk drivers - as well as the hundreds of thousands of injured victims themselves. Bachus & Schanker, LLC is a longtime supporter of MADD's efforts in these important endeavors.
This year, through the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, MADD hopes to raise $200,000 in support of this important and courageous fight against drunk driving.
Since MADD first launched its campaign in 2006 there has been a decrease in drunk driving fatalities of nearly 27 percent. That means donations from caring people in the community, including Bachus & Schanker, LLC, have helped save more than 3,600 lives each year.
Our shared efforts are having a positive impact on lives throughout the country. Yet, despite all that is being accomplished, drunk driving still accounts for more than 30 percent of all vehicular deaths on America's roadways each year.
You can contribute to help MADD save lives on America's roadways in 2013 by visiting www.madd.org and clicking on the red Donate button in the upper right corner.
If a drunk driver has harmed you or a member of your family, we encourage you to contact Bachus & Schanker, LLC for consultation and legal representation.
