Bachus & Schanker Collect for 2nd Year of Dolls for Daughters
With the Christmas Season just around the corner, Dolls for Daughters is gearing up to begin collecting dolls for little girls whose Christmas this year may not be so bright.
Dolls for Daughters was created in December 2007 in memory of Jessica and Kyle Bachus' daughter, who was stillborn January 23, 2007. Jessica had envisioned how wonderful it would be to have Bailey, their oldest daughter, and Kenzi playing together. They would have so much fun, and Bailey was very excited to have a baby sister on the way. Christmas is a favorite holiday in the Bachus home and during 2006 there were discussions how next year they would have double the number of baby dolls and toys under the Christmas tree.
Those dreams and hopes were shattered when they lost Kenzi. But rather than allowing grief to overcome their family, Jessica decided to honor little Kenzi's memory by collecting and giving baby dolls to little girls whose families were facing financial hardship during the holiday season.
This year, Dolls for Daughters is collecting dolls for The Samaritan House, The Denver Children's Home, The Gathering Place, and SafeHouse Denver.
