Denver Officer Involved in Car Accident off I-70

A 35 year-old veteran Denver police officer was seriously injured on Tuesday night, December 18th.

The accident was reported after 9:30 pm on York Street near Interstate 70. A female officer arrived on the crash and stated only the patrol car involved was at the scene. Denver police initially believed the accident to be a hit and run, but are unclear on the exact details that led up to the event.

The extent of the officer’s injuries has not yet been disclosed. The officer was immediately transported to Denver Health Medical Center and is the intensive care unit.

Police are investigating the crash and ask that anyone with information contact local authorities immediately.

The Colorado State Patrol reported 74 accidents causing injury and 9 fatal accidents in Colorado since October 2007.
