Bachus Presents at CTLA Convention 2010

Mr. J. Kyle Bachus, founding partner at Bachus & Schanker, is a leader in Colorado for both Personal Injury and Auto Litigation. Mr. Bachus was re-elected for his eight term on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA). He is also the Co-Chair of the Auto-Litigation Committee for CTLA, a position he has held since 2005.

On Saturday, August 6, 2010, Mr. Bachus presented a seminar at the 2010 CTLA Convention in Vail, Colorado. He spoke on Colorado’s new state subrogation laws. Subrogation is when health insurance companies are reimbursed from an injured party’s settlement for the amount that they paid for medical treatment. Mr. Bachus explained Colorado’s new legislation, the Make Whole rule. The Make Whole doctrine requires that the injured party is fully compensated or “made whole” before the insurance company may seek subrogation or reimbursement. This comes as a long awaited change for Colorado. Thirty-six other states have already implemented the make whole doctrine in some form.

Mr. Bachus is proud of his continued participation in CTLA and as an advocate for injured victims in Colorado.
