Tie One On for Safety With Colorado MADD

As the holiday season officially begins this week, the Law Office of Bachus & Schanker, LLC supports Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) as they launch their 24th annual Tie One On For Safety campaign.
Tie One On For Safety began in 1986 as MADD's premiere public safety awareness campaign. The days from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day see some of the heaviest travel days of the year and the number of drunk driving crashes typically increases. Each year, more than 1,000 people are killed in drunk driving crashes during the Winter holiday season.
Supporters tie MADD red ribbons to car antennas and keychains, or display a red ribbon decal on their vehicles, to show family and friends their commitment to support safer roads free from drunk drivers. The red ribbon symbolizes the driver's pledge to drive safe, sober and buckled up.
Buckling Up Can Help You Survive
MADD and Colorado personal injury law firm Bachus & Schanker, LLC also advocate the use of seat belts as one of the best defenses in surviving a crash caused by a drunk driver. According to CDOT's 2008-2009 Fact Book, of the 390 fatalities in 2007 involving motor vehicles with seatbelts, 206 were not buckled up. If they had buckled up, about half of those victims might have survived.
