Expect a multitude of emotions. Find someone who can help you talk about what you are feeling.
Acknowledge your physical and emotional limits. Your ability to think and make decisions may be impaired as a result of pain and fatigue.
Your grief is unique. Every person grieves and deals with situations differently. Seek the support and understanding of others who have gone through the same kind of trauma.
Develop a support system. Accepting help and support from others is often difficult, particularly when you are hurting emotionally. Finding the appropriate people to surround yourself with and encourage you to be yourself and acknowledge your feelings can be a huge help in the healing process.
What kind of memorials does MADD offer?
MADD holds an annual Candlelight Vigil to honor victims killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. MADD and the Colorado Department of Transportation have also enacted a Memorial Sign Program which raises the awareness of others on the road by having a sign asking people not to drink and drive and the name of the victim can be established at the sight of the crash.
