With the Christmas Season just around the corner, Dolls for Daughters and Toys for Boys is collecting dolls and toys for little girls and boys whose Christmas this year may not be so bright.
Jessica Bachus created Dolls for Daughters in December 2007 in memory of her daughter, who was stillborn January 23, 2007. Jessica had envisioned how wonderful it would be to have Bailey, their oldest daughter, and Kenzi playing together. Christmas is a favorite holiday in the Bachus home and during 2006 there were discussions how next year they would have double the number of baby dolls and toys under the Christmas tree.
Those dreams and hopes were shattered when they lost Kenzi. But rather than allowing grief to overcome their family, Jessica decided to honor little Kenzi's memory by collecting and giving baby dolls to little girls whose families were facing financial hardship during the holiday season.
Dolls for Daughters is in its fourth year, and they are excited to be collected new dolls and toys for kids birth to 18. This year, Dolls for Daughters will be giving away toys and dolls to needy families on December 11th. Donations will also be distributed to Warren Village, The Samaritan House, The Denver Children's Home, The Gathering Place, and SafeHouse Denver.
