New Colorado Insurance Law Will Affect Your Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Founding partners Kyle Bachus and Darin Schanker of Bachus & Schanker, LLC, working with many others who advocate for Colorado consumers, have come to the rescue of consumer car insurance purchasers. Mr. Bachus and Mr. Schanker have extensive legal experience, and worked with their legal peers and the Colorado Senate in the enactment of a proposed bill in the field of auto insurance.

This new law is effective January 1, 2008 and will affect every automobile insurance policy in Colorado. The new Colorado Insurance Law will help consumers receive the type of coverage that they pay for if injured by an uninsured driver. Such a change will effect the important coverage known as uninsured/under-insured motorist coverage (UM/UIM).

UM/UIM coverage is the only coverage you can purchase in order to protect yourself and your family if you are the victim of a car accident and the person who cause the crash has either no insurance or too little insurance to pay for the damages they are at fault for.

This bill, which is now law, can be found on the Colorado Legislature website.

Please click here for more information on the effects and changes this will have on Colorado's UM coverage.
