Last week a drunk driver, fleeing from police on I-70, struck and killed 19 year old Jacob Dean Brock and his girlfriend, Jennifer Kois near Clifton, Colorado. Another young life and light is now extinguished and all that is left is a grieving family and community. Thankfully, however, groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) work to stop drunk driving and help those families dealing with the loss of a loved one at the hands of a drunk driver.
MADD is a non-profit, grass roots organization with more than 400 entities world wide. It works to stop drunk driving and underage drinking. In 2005, 244 people died in Colorado in alcohol related deaths and 198 fatalities involving a driver with a BAC of .08 or higher. To address the serious problem, MADD will hold its 2nd Annual Strides for Change Non-Competitive 5k Walk and Family Event taking place on August 4, 2007, in Denver, Colorado. Bachus & Schanker, LLC is a participant in this event. On behalf of victims of drunk driving, MADD needs your help to continue its efforts; read more information on the Strides for Change event and on donating to MADD.
