Bachus and Schanker Reviews Lawrence Woods – Actual Car Accident Case

I was on Eagle Street faced in the South direction and as I was sitting there at the stop-sign, out of nowhere, I looked to my left and I seen a car careening towards my vehicle all I could do is brace for the impact. I remember waking up in the hospital and hour or so later. What stood out the most was the strong stance that the firm [Bachus & Schanker] took on my behalf. They let me know that by no means would they submit to proposals of giving me a settlement that didn’t really meet my needs or what I wanted. The strong representation is what rings out the most to me. It’s nice to have a strong legal team on your behalf. Bachus & Schanker would be someone that I would recommend to do that professional job. I’d like to say “Thank You, I appreciate the job done.”

I was coming up on Kalamath and heading East on 6th Avenue, approached the red light and came to a complete stop. And when I was there, waiting for the light to turn green, a car, heading at a pretty high speed, had been trying to shift from the left lane to the far right lane at which point made direct impact with the back of my car. Well, as I was sitting in my car, I was in shock that it just happened. Unfortunately, I had my left hand on the steering wheel and as the impact took place, I felt a sharp pain in my left shoulder and it happened to be cold out and as I stood up to get out of my car, I wasn’t sure if it was the shock or if it was the cold temperature, but I started to shiver and I thought, “Huh”, this could be more serious than I thought. Well, I had been living in Denver for a couple of years and I had been made known of Bachus & Schanker and I decided to give them a call and after the first interview I was very impressed with the lawyer and with the services that he was going to provide me. Having a lawyer made the whole process of one year and nine months, very comforting and very reassuring to know that the team was working for me. The personal care that I was give, the constant phone calls and emails, the follow-up and all the documents that were needed. Just the personal care and concern that they were showing toward me as a person. “Thank you.” Thank you [Bachus & Schanker] for carrying me for the last 19 months, 20 months, whatever it was. You made my life easier and at the end, we got a settlement that I think was fair for what happened.

Safe seat belt use can keep you and your family free from serious injury

This summer a 15-year-old girl was killed on Denver’s E-470 when the car in which she was a passenger crashed into an embankment after colliding with another vehicle. The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car sustaining fatal injuries. This tragic story has become all too common on Colorado roadways. This is why state leaders have announced an ambitious goal of reaching zero traffic fatalities in coming years. “This new vision serves as a wake-up call to any who have become complacent about the number of traffic deaths in Colorado each year," says Governor John Hickenlooper. While this bold vision may not be achieved overnight, one proven way to reduce traffic fatalities is by wearing a seat belt.

In 2014, 163 people who weren’t buckled up lost their lives in traffic crashes on Colorado roadways. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 81 percent of Coloradans wear seat belts, just slightly below the national average of 86 percent, and if everyone buckled up, nearly half of the victims would have survived. According to AAA, seat belts are 45 to 60 percent effective in reducing the risk of crash-related death, and saved nearly 300,000 U.S. lives since 1975. In fact, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, if everyone buckles up, an additional 2,800 deaths could be prevented each year.

Traffic crashes are still one of the leading causes of death in Colorado and across the country” says Scott Hernandez, chief of the state patrol. AAA stresses that buckling up is the most important safety measure you can take to protect yourself in a crash as it helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle.  Seat belts are also the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers. Unfortunately, Colorado seat belt laws are secondary, which means officers can only give tickets if they pulled the driver over for another reason, even though seat belt use is mandatory for all Colorado drivers and front-seat passengers. In other states, primary seat belt laws allow an officer to stop and ticket someone just for not buckling up. And not surprisingly, those states report lower vehicle injuries and fatalities because those laws tend to increase a state’s seat belt use rate by an average of 10 percent. In fact, According to the Colorado State Patrol, more than 52 percent of those killed in crashes last year in our state were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of their crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, lap and shoulder belts are designed to keep motorists in their seats during a crash. Worn properly, safety belts spread crash forces across the stronger bony parts of the upper body. Safety belts also prevent occupants from being ejected from the vehicle, an event associated with high risk of injury and death. Without belts, people risk hitting things inside their vehicle and being ejected altogether. Relative to occupants who are not ejected from vehicles, occupants who are ejected in non-rollover crashes are nearly twice as likely to die. Seat belts can also reduce the risk of moderate injury by nearly 65 percent for both drivers and passengers by simply buckling up.

I was headed up towards Walden Canyon and the girl that I was with looked down at the floor to see what I was picking up and over-corrected the car. Honestly, I was just glad I was alive and that the car had stopped moving, that was pretty much what went through my head. I had a great experience with this firm. If I was ever in another car accident, God forbid, I would come back to this firm. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I had a really good experience. If you need a lawyer, come to this firm (Bachus and Schanker). Definitely, thank you very much (Bachus and Schanker).

We were going down Mississippi, we were going down West and the corner of Mississippi and Cody, they ran a stop sign and we hit her. It was like slow motion and yet it happened real fast. I couldn’t really tell you what I was thinking after the accident, I blanked out for a while and the paramedics and fire department had me already in a gurney, I guess you would say. They took me to the hospital and when I got there I kept saying “How were my kids?” I wanted to know how everybody was. Turns out the seatbelt broke and I hit the windshield and hit the dash with my knee and I had black eyes for almost two months. They didn’t notice very much on my knee until a little later, I was limping really bad. It turned out, I don’t know what was in there, they had operated to fix. My son-in-law recommended the company (Bachus & Schanker) They said his friend was real satisfied (with Bachus & Schanker) and they told him and I never, I wouldn’t have known who to call I have to tell you the truth, I would have talked to my insurance agent or something. I wouldn’t have known anybody to call. You have to be kinda crazy or actually really smart to handle it yourself. You always should have somebody to talk to to represent you. Even if you were smart enough you need an attorney’s back up, I should say. They called me when they said they were going to call me, called me if they didn’t have to call me, let me know everything that was going on. Met them (Bachus & Schanker) in December and within a few months my case was settled. I appreciate it. Everything they did for me. Don’t go with anybody else.

Basically, I was driving down Santa Fe Avenue and unfortunately somebody cut in front of me and I hit her going 45 miles an hour. Her cutting in front of me directly, not paying attention. Am I Ok? Anything broken? I felt the blood dripping on my face so it was pretty traumatic. My father actually wanted me to go with them (Bachus & Schanker) he actually knows somebody that used Bachus & Schanker before and he thought he heard really good things about them, so that is why I went with them (Bachus & Schanker). This is the first time I’ve ever done this so basically I was in the dark having no clue what to do, so thanks to my dad, he kind of helped that out. They (Bachus & Schanker) did exactly what they said they were going to do and they ended up doing something for me that I didn’t expect. It was great. I was really happy with them. You know it’s best to go with a lawyer because they can actually do a lot more than you can do yourself. You don’t always have all the time in the world to do it yourself so that’s their job to do that and help you out. I think it’s great to go with someone that can fight for you at the same time while you are doing your own thing on your own life and after that some good reward will come out of it. It was pretty nice, I had the emails, the calls kinda keeping me informed of what the situation was at that time. It kept things, it kept things updated for me the whole time which was nice. Thank you so much. I am very happy with everything how it turned out and I am very appreciative and this turned out to be better to be than I thought it would be. You can’t go wrong. They do what they say they are going to do. They (Bachus & Schanker) fight for you and there is nobody else I would go to if it ever happens to me again.

I was in Commerce City and I was on my way to get gas, I had detoured and instead of going to get my son, my adult handicapped son, I detoured and went and got gas first or tried to go get gas. I was waiting at a traffic light, a red light, and a car hit me from behind, while I was waiting at the red light. I was kind of maybe unconscious for a period of time, I don’t even know, really only remember, like the ambulance guy showing up. I remember just being in a lot of pain. I remember just being confused and kind of scared. My sister had her accident, she went to the hospital and told me to call she had seen it on T.V. Bachus and Schanker, so I just went ahead and went with that. I don’t really understand the insurance and how they work and you don’t understand a lot about all the procedures that go on so it’s better to have somebody who has that knowledge. I already gave them two different people’s number (referrals) I don’t know if they have done anything with it. It’s easy to remember and a good firm too so I have a good, I’m not just giving them to anybody. Thank you for helping me out, it’s been a rough, rough road. So just thank them for taking care of it all for me.

Top Tips for Bicycle Safety on our Streets

Colorado is a top destination for outdoor fun and adventure, and hitting our roadways by bicycle is just one of the many ways to enjoy the state’s breathtaking scenery. However, accident statistics show that a recreational outing by bike can quickly turn to serious injury, or even death. According to the latest National Highway Traffic Safety Administration figures, 743 bicyclists were killed annually in crashes with motor vehicles — that’s the highest number of fatalities since 2006. And during that same period, 48,000 bicyclists suffered accident injuries — that’s a 9 percent jump since 2001. Bicycle accidents can be attributed to many factors including risks based on the time of day (with nighttime riding being most dangerous), experience level of rider, location of riding, and alcohol use by cyclists or motorists.

Distracted Drivers are a Serious Danger to our Streets

Imagine driving 55-mph down a highway while blindfolded. Sounds crazy, but thousands of drivers are doing just that every day. Motorists who send, or read, just one text while behind the wheel take their eyes of the road for 4.6 seconds on average, or the equivalent of driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed. That’s more than enough time to lose control of your vehicle and cause a devastating accident. In fact, text messaging increases the risk of a car crash by nearly 200 percent.
